The Story So Far...

David and I launched the company in April 2009 after leaving Aegis Media in London because we wanted to help ambitious media and marketing organizations account for greater value, right in the middle of the recession. We took this gamble to set up our own company for a number of reasons:

Firstly, its either the best or the worst time to launch a consulting company. Whilst budgets were being massively cut we wondered if we could unlock sustainable fee income. However at the same time, many marketers we were speaking to were frustrated with the lack of passion, focus and innovation forthcoming from their existing marketing services companies and agencies, too many of them focused on their own woes and cutting back on the quality resource needed to help their clients in the tough times.

Secondly, whilst we were hesitant at taking on the moniker ‘consultant’ we knew that we would come to market with something different to the established media and marketing consultants. Both of us have spent the majority of our careers in marketing during the digital revolution. Our (relative) youth compared to the established consultants, means we are uniquely qualified to advise clients on their marketing challenges in the context of the digital age. More and more marketing issues involve digital media in some form or another. We believe that no other communications consulting company is as in-touch with modern marketing techniques than ID COMMS. We have deep operational experience in large media and marketing companies and are on top of current industry best practise, both on the client and agency side. Combining this consulting experience with our  modern view of marketing and communications make ID COMMS a powerful ally for marketing organizations looking to enhance the value of their investments in the digital age.

Finally, we had both dreamed of being our own bosses, like many people. Having the freedom to listen to our instincts, really dig deep on our experiences and craft an offering to clients which would be unique, dynamic and dedicated to solving their challenges. We have both spent many years working for large organizations and grown frustrated at the slow pace of change, the politics and irrational barriers to progress that can sometimes occur. Being in charge of our own skills and development, marketing our own skills and experiences was too much to resist.

We launched on 1st April, 2009 – April Fools Day – laughing fate right in the face.

In the last two years we have been on an incredible journey, lucky to have worked with some of the world’s largest and most ambition consumer brands, helping them find solutions to some of their biggest marketing challenges. Its been a long journey but we feel this is just the beginning. Year three began for us with a desk full of exciting work and the prospect of helping more marketing organizations discover more productivity and value from their investments in the digital age.
